The BhagwadGita talks about three modes of a living soul’s journey on earth, which is ideally supposed to be a journey closer to God (Ķrşna).

The mode of ignorance, the mode of passion and the mode of goodness.

It is not really that one moves linearly from one mode to another through a category of steps followed to fulfil certain requirements and move up the ladder.

These modes are our subconscious ways of being, where we act in these different modes in different circumstances and situations with different people throughout life.

The goal, as a layman understanding of Gita is that you need to move towards the mode of goodness and act from goodness to become one with the Super-soul, the supreme creator.

But we are no prophets, are we? We are far from being prophets in today’s world, we are all sinners judging other sinners for sinning differently.

If you look around you and at your own self and your life you will find many circumstances to repeat themselves. Much of what you do and see and believe comes from the same few repeated people, places, learnings and similar situations or emotional challenges repeating themselves.

So in today’s world how does one really move from ignorance to passion and an even more difficult and uphill climb is to move from passion to goodness.

Life runs in a spiral, it gives us many opportunities to learn from the same test over and over again. How can you identify if you are in mode of ignorance, passion or goodness?

There is no one way to say it for me as I am no expert of the book nor can I translate the lessons of the book in any other way to make it simpler.

If you are intrigued to learn more about it, read the book for that is where you will find your answers.

What I have learned and understood reflecting on my life is that in the same relationships that are closest to my heart I have experienced ignorance, passion and goodness both from the giver and taker as the situations happened to change roles.

But most importantly I see that what plays out in life is the mode of passion, simply because there is too much of it available too. Our world is designed to keep us in the mode of passion, wanting more, seeking more, having more options, nothing ever being enough. And this is the mode in which we tend to lose ourselves the most, especially our mode of goodness.

We all come from one soul, one supreme source of energy, and that is divine energy. So essentially when we are brought upon this earth as babies we come from mode of goodness. And then starts our descending journey as we continue to grow up.

This phase of my life, the 30s is the most deceiving phase of all. In this phase, because I have achieved certain accomplishments, gained my independence, and am living abroad, it is very easy to think of this mode as the mode of goodness. But that is a mirage.

Our outside achievements and accolades are no reflection of our inner soul nourishment and journey. All outside achievements are a mode of passion. Ad it requires you to be constantly passionate and attached to an outcome, to a certain degree it makes your soul’s journey circled around these outside outcomes.

Your mode of goodness starts when you start to give up control, when you start to lose this sense of ego self, the ego that is fired by passion. When you become more centred, grounded and aware that everything lasts while you have it. So the temporary nature of life itself is the answer to all our questions and quests. The mode of goodness starts when you have created a separation from the false ego desires and created a deeper connection with the real ego, that is your self, self identified from it’s nascence, the higher self.

As you start to listen to your inner voice, the voice of your heart more and more strongly, the deeper your connection with your true real ego forms. That ego sustains and pulls you towards the mode of goodness. The mode where you are flowing and syncing, become one with your body, mind, heart and soul and finding a balance. This balance is crucial.

Your balance is your way to arrive to the mode of goodness.

I feel I am only learning the tip of this iceberg. I will need to continue to keep reading the Gita regularly to continue getting wisdom from it.

I do hope reading this has shed some light and inspiration on one of the most important learnings of the book 🙌🏼✨
